Every diet has gone wrong in the world, over time, because they all tend to try and change your life in drastic ways all-in-one-week; nothing can do that and last. If you're going to stay on low carb diet plans such as the Atkins diet, or go on a liquid diet to obtain weight loss, or live on a healthy vegetarian diet, then you have to WANT to do that and LIKE doing it.

Much of the reason that only starches seem to give you some level of satisfaction is, they have secretly addicted you. Starches don't directly influence the levels of serotonin in your brain, but mechanisms closely related to them do. And, serotonin levels are what make us happier. It's estimated that there are currently 30 million people in the U.S. following some sort of diet that restricts carbohydrate intake. And 55% of U.S. adults said they were avoiding or eating less sugars and carbohydrates in a survey conducted by the IFIC in January.

A low-carbohydrate diet starts working when the reduced carbohydrate intake causes the body to start burning glycogen, which are stored carbohydrates, to get energy; and, when your body burns glycogen water is released. That's why you lose weight.

However, a heavily carbohydrate-restricted diet such as the Atkinds diet also forces the body to burn fat. This is a metabolic state which is termed "ketosis", where by-products called ketones build up in the bloodstream. These are removed by the kidney and eliminated; so ketosis has the desirable effect of physically removing body fat. However, Mayo Clinic has shown that muscle tissue can also be lost in the process. An over-abundance of ketones can cause nausea, fatigue, bad breath, kidney failure or gout; so be careful not to overdo.

What carbohydrates you take in should be in the form of fruits and complex carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates basically means 'you can still see pieces of the carbohydrate in there'.

A Low Carbohydrate Diet might also cause low mood conditions. So, although it's certain that low-carb diets are still the craze; and consumers are still embracing it, manufacturers and retailers have geared up to meet those needs.

There's no doubt that you shouldn't be eating the high calorie, high white-flour carbohydrate, high sugar lifestyle we've been living in America. However, one should also not go overboard in the other direction either. You should learn what healthy means, and stick with it. Your mother knew what healthy meant¡­ eat your vegetables, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Those are still good things to go by. And, when you eat carbohydrates, restrict such ones as pizza, hamburger and hotdog rolls, French fries and McDonalds Quarter Pounders.
